So it’s New Years day and if you were one of those who were celebrating last night it’s likely your thoughts are turning to that piece of perenial “woo” the January detox.
Last year the press did seem to want to go against the grain and criticise detox treatments but this year… Well it could well be business as usual and “lifestyle” sections and “commentary” will be telling us to clean our colons, purify our diet and get rid of those dastardley toxins. In the 1950′s there was a man named Solomon Asch. A man named Solomon Asch who ran an experiment. This experiment is now considered a classic of social psychology and indeed psychology itself.
This coming Saturday there will be an anti swine-flu vaccine march organised by the Vaccine awareness network there will also be a swine flu “scam” conference in Kirkcaldy in the evening. I suppose that this marks this the start of a small series of blogs about the mainstream view, or at the least the evidence supported view at the least, then again if I’m being honest it might just be an excuse to take a lighthearted look at what a bunch of conspiracy theorists and woo-sters think.

There is apparently a new “treatment” for ASD avaliable from the XCell centre in Dussledorf Germany – Stem Cell therapy.
Dusseldorf, Germany (PRWEB) October 1, 2009 — The XCell-Center has released interim results from 10 autism patients treated with autologous bone marrow stem cells. Overall, more than 70% improved following treatment. Patients reported improvements in cognition, behavior, language, socialization, coordination, motor skills and awareness.
